OUR 2ND 5K SPONSORSHIP AND 1ST VENDOR BOOTH
On May 31st, 2025, we sponsored our second 5K of the year. I had been researching local races—ones that were small, meaningful, and trying to gain traction with a good cause behind them. When I came across the story of the parents who started the Heart Warriors 5K and saw that it all began with the loss of their son… there was no question. I knew I had to be part of it.
I wasn’t sure I could afford to be a vendor at this event—I just wanted to help however I could. Thankfully, they worked with me and offered a small space. I was nervous. I had poured so much time and energy into sewing headbands, making shaker bottles, and putting together my jewelry board. My inventory was low, my setup wasn’t fully branded, but I showed up anyway. And I actually made two sales that day—my very first in-person sales! I was ecstatic.
The family who organized the event was incredibly kind. When they spoke about their son before the race began, you could feel how deeply genuine they were. Their mission to raise awareness for CHDs came straight from the heart.
What I took away from this experience wasn’t just a desire to get more involved in local communities—it was the realization that I want to support causes that feel personal. There are so many important missions out there, but I’ve learned that when I have a real connection to the cause, I can show up more fully. I can be vulnerable, share my own stories, and explain my “why” for choosing to be part of something.
Thank you to the family who welcomed me and my tiny, one-woman-run business into this event. I’m so grateful I got to be part of something so meaningful.
